Booking Terms and Conditions
SECTION 1 - Booking Categories & Methods
We offer the following type of classes:
Public Group Classes
Private one-on-one Classes
Private Event Bookings (Hens Parties, Team Building, Birthdays etc).
SECTION 2 - Cancellations + Rescheduling Policies
Public Group & Private One-on-One Classes:
All bookings are final and non-refundable. You may reschedule under the below terms:
More than 7 days' notice: Free to reschedule.
Less than 7 days' notice: A rescheduling fee of $20-$50pp applies (charge specified on the class listing).
Less than 24 hours' notice: No rescheduling; 100% loss of booking.
If your booking is eligible for rescheduling, alternative dates/times will be offered. If none are suitable, the booking converts to a credit valid for 6 months from the purchase date. Expired credit will not be accepted as payment.
Private Events:
Deposit is non-refundable.
More than 14 days' notice: Free to reschedule.
Less than 14 days' notice: Rescheduling fee of 20% of booking value.
Less than 7 days' notice: 100% loss of booking.
If eligible for rescheduling, customers may choose a new date (subject to availability) or receive a credit valid for 6 months.
Final numbers must be confirmed 16-17 days prior, and the final balance is due 14 days before the event. Once paid, the guest count cannot be reduced or refunded.
Confirmed Booking Dates
Once a date has been confirmed by the client and payment has been made, the booking is final. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure they have provided the correct date before confirming the booking. If a mistake is made by the client, our standard "Private Events" rescheduling policies will apply.
We are not responsible for scheduling errors made by the client, and refunds will not be issued in such cases.
SECTION 3 - Payment Terms
Public Group Classes & Private One-on-One Classes: Full payment required upfront.
Hens Parties: Non-refundable deposit at booking. Final numbers must be submitted no later than 15 days before event date. Balance due 14 days before event. If the balance is not paid on time, we reserve the right to cancel the booking with loss of deposit.
Team Bonding Events: Final numbers must be submitted no later than 8 days before the event date. Final balance due 7 days before the event date. If payment is not received by the due date, we reserve the right to cancel the booking with loss of deposit. Late payments that do not clear before the event date may result in event cancellation.
SECTION 4 - Rescheduling Fees & Deadlines
This applies to all booking types.
Rescheduling fees must be paid at the time of rescheduling. A new booking date will only be confirmed once payment is received. If the rescheduling fee is unpaid, the booking will not be moved, and the original date remains in effect. Failure to attend a rescheduled date without prior notice will result in a full loss of booking.
SECTION 5 - Our Right to Cancel
We reserve the right to cancel a class or event for reasons including, but not limited to:
Minimum participant numbers not met. If minimum numbers are not met, attendees will be contacted 24-48 hours before the class and offered alternative dates. If no suitable alternatives are available, a full refund will be provided.
Instructor illness or unavailability.
Venue-related issues (e.g., power outage, burst pipe, unsafe conditions)
Other unforeseen circumstances beyond our control
SECTION 6 - Third-Party Bookings
If you have booked through a third-party platform, any booking issues must be resolved directly with them. We are not responsible for missing or incorrect information in third-party confirmation emails.
SECTION 7 - Accessibility
Our venue is not wheelchair accessible due to steps and narrow spaces. We are also unable to accommodate walkers or mobility aids due to space constraints.
SECTION 8 - Late Arrivals & No-Shows
If you arrive up to 15 minutes late, the instructor has the discretion to allow or refuse your participation.
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, you will be refused entry, and no refunds or rescheduling options will be provided.
Failure to attend a booked class will result in 100% loss of booking with no option to reschedule or obtain a refund.
SECTION 9 - Alcohol & Conduct
Participants must behave respectfully during the class. We reserve the right to refuse entry or remove any participant behaving inappropriately, with no refund or rescheduling option.
Where alcohol is permitted, participants must be over 18 and drink responsibly. BYO alcohol is not allowed unless specified in the class description.
SECTION 10 - Transferring Bookings
If you are unable to attend your class, you may transfer your booking to a friend or family member at no additional cost. Please notify us in advance of any name changes on the booking.
SECTION 11 - Gift Cards
Gift cards are strictly non-refundable once purchased. Gift cards can be redeemed via our website, by phone, email, or directly at our venue. Gift cards are valid for three years from the date of purchase. Expired gift cards will not be accepted. Gift cards may only be used to make purchases up to the initial Gift Card value. If the purchase exceeds the remaining balance, the difference must be paid via another payment method. Gift cards can be used as payment towards a private class or public group class. Gift cards are not legal tender and cannot be redeemed for cash.
SECTION 12 - Purchasing a Sewing Machine
Collection
If a sewing machine is being ordered, we will contact you once it has arrived to arrange a collection time.
Warranty
We offer a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty on mechanical parts and a 5-year warranty on the computerised components. Warranty terms and conditions apply. Warranty details and registration instructions are included in the packaging.
Misuse or failure to operate the machine correctly may void the warranty. If you are unfamiliar with using a sewing machine, we recommend attending our Sewing for Beginners class before operating your new machine. Damage resulting from misuse is not covered under warranty.
Servicing
For optimal performance, it is recommended to service your sewing machine:
Every 6 months if heavily used.
Every 12 months for regular use.
$50 Class Credit Offer
If you received a $50 class credit with a sewing machine purchase, this credit is valid for 3 months and can only be used towards the following classes:
Introduction To Garment Making (Shorts/Pants)
Dressmaking
Open Alterations Class
Sewing Pattern Support Class
The credit is non-transferable and cannot be given to another person. To redeem, the original recipient must email to redeem. The class does not need to take place within the 3-month period, but it must be booked before the credit expires. Expired credits will not be accepted, and extensions will not be granted.
Credits are not legal tender and cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred to a gift card, or refunded.
SECTION 13 - Lost or Damaged Personal Items & Uncollected Projects
We are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings.
Uncollected projects must be picked up within 30 days. Unclaimed items will be donated.
Once a project has been donated, no refunds will be provided, and customers will not be entitled to re-do the class without full payment.
SECTION 14 - Bringing Your Own Sewing Machine
Bringing your own machine to our Sewing For Beginners class is not allowed.
For other sewing classes, machines must be brand new (purchased in the last 12 months), or serviced by a Sewing Machine Technician in the last 12 months.
Customers agree to release the business, its staff, and/or contractors from any liability for damages to the machine during or after class.
Customers must bring all necessary parts, attachments, and accessories. Missing parts may require using a studio machine instead.
Machines cannot be left at the studio after the session. We do not offer repair services for machines purchased elsewhere.
SECTION 15 - Discontinued Classes
If a class is discontinued, any existing bookings or gift cards for this class will be converted to credit, which can be used toward another available class.
SECTION 16 - Booking on Behalf of Someone Else
If you book a class for someone else, you are responsible for ensuring they are aware of and agree to these terms and conditions.
SECTION 17 - Photography & Media Usage
We may take photos or videos during classes for promotional use. If you do not wish to have your photo taken, please notify us before your session by email, or let your instructor know when you arrive.
SECTION 18 - CCTV & Security Monitoring
For security and safety purposes, our venue is monitored by CCTV. By attending a class or event, you acknowledge and consent to being recorded. Footage is used solely for security reasons and will not be shared unless required by law.
SECTION 19 - Force Majeure
In the event of circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, or government restrictions, Sydney Creative reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes and events. In such cases, refunds will not be provided, however, participants will be offered alternative dates.
SECTION 20 - Liability & Disclaimers
Customers are responsible for their own safety and must follow all provided safety guidelines.
We are not liable for any injuries, losses, or damages incurred during or as a result of attending a class.
Customers are responsible for ensuring they follow all instructor guidance and use provided equipment safely.
Any personal items brought to the class are the responsibility of the participant, and we are not liable for their loss or damage.
