About us

Our story began in 2018 in a small studio inside 107 Projects on Redfern St. With only one desk and one sewing machine, our first class was published and a lovely lady booked in. Our passion for the arts coupled with bringing people together, brought our vision of launching a creative hub to life.

In our modern world, everything moves quickly, we have adapted to a fast-paced environment and sometimes it can be hard to slow ourselves down. Sydney Creative is a place for people to relax, regroup and find a creative outlet that will hopefully aid in bringing people a sense of achievement, fulfilment and joy.

Our Classes bring people together, often in a circle around a table, whether it's for a sewing class, jewellery making or crafting, there's something special about being creative in a group together.

Sophie was amazing! She was so kind and patient with me (a nervous beginner). I really enjoyed the course and I’m so happy with my cushion cover. Highly recommend.

Sophie really took the time to listen to how I learnt, applied her knowledge to the punchneedle piece I'd brought with me and then explained not only the how but the why as well. She was patient, knowledgeable and friendly!

Monica was so knowledgeable, kind and patient with my 10 year old daughter for her introduction to sewing lesson. The lesson gave her confidence on a machine and she was so proud of the cushion she made.

To bring people together in a creative and positive environment, where we craft, talk, meet likeminded individuals and create something with our hands to take home. We want everyone to find a creative outlet and for it to be easily accessible.

Often our students express how therapeutic they have found our classes, we saw a surge in attendance after the 2020 lockdown; a time where many were forced to slow down, regroup and take a step back. People often share their stories with us on how they discovered they needed a creative outlet.

Our approach to teaching is hands-on, we allow students to learn by doing, rather than watching us. All of our teachers are patient, kind and understanding, we want everyone to feel at ease to ask any question that comes to mind.

To offer exceptional quality classes run by qualified and highly skilled teachers, sharing their years of knowledge and experience with those who want to learn.
