Level 1: Sewing For Beginners

A friendly, beginner-focused workshop that walks you through the basics of using a sewing machine. You’ll start by choosing your fabric from our selection, then be guided through a simple sewing pattern. After some cutting, you’ll learn how to set up the sewing machine and start sewing your envelope cushion cover. Your teacher will guide the whole group at a comfortable pace, so no one feels left behind.
Project: Cushion cover (45 x 45cm)

- Winding the bobbin
- Threading the machine
- Sewing straight lines and seam allowances
- Troubleshooting tips
- Backstitching
- Finishing raw edges with a zig zag

- This class is open to everyone aged 18+, and you don’t need any prior sewing experience.
- A lot of people come solo, so if you’re thinking about booking on your own – chances are you won’t be the only one. Our teachers are warm, friendly, and always make sure solo guests feel welcome and supported.
- We welcome all genders and identities in our inclusive space.
- Curious about what it’s like, or maybe you’re a bit nervous? We’ve written this blog post that walks you through your first sewing class so you know exactly what to expect.
- All materials, including machine hire, are provided
- Cushion insert not included but available to purchase during checkout
- Please arrive 10 minutes early to settle in and choose your fabric
- Closed-toe shoes are recommended for your safety
- This class runs for 3 hours – if you’re driving, avoid 1P or 2P zones as we won’t be able to pause the class for you to move your car. Not sure where to park? Click here for our parking tips

Due to high demand and limited class sizes, all bookings are final and non-refundable. We’re happy to reschedule your booking as long as it meets the conditions below:
- Rescheduling with more than 7 days’ notice: free of charge
- Rescheduling with less than 7 days’ notice: $50 per person rescheduling fee
- Rescheduling with less than 24 hours’ notice: no reschedule or refund available
