Learn to sew stretch in this t-shirt sewing class in Sydney
Take your sewing to the next level with our T-shirt sewing class in Sydney (held at our colourful Redfern studio). In this engaging, hands-on workshop, you’ll build skills in cutting, shaping, and assembling a T-shirt from start to finish. You’ll learn how to use ribbing for the neckline, construct sleeves, and work confidently with stretch fabric. As always, your instructor will guide you through every step with plenty of support and encouragement.
This class is designed for advanced beginners who have successfully completed at least one garment following a pattern and are ready to expand their sewing skills. Not there yet? Have a look at our beginner sessions here.
A Note on Timing:
This is a brand-new class, and although we estimate around 5.5 hours for this session, please note it may take a little longer depending on pace and group size.

What you'll learn
- Reading and following a garment sewing pattern with confidence
- Cutting and preparing fabric before sewing
- Working with stretch fabrics
- Using an overlocker for professional seams
- Constructing sleeves for your T-shirt
- Sewing with a twin needle for a neat finish
- Adding ribbing around the neckline
- A commercial t-shirt pattern to take home
- Fabric is included, choose between white or grey
- Thread, and tools provided
- Sewing machine hire included
- Step-by-step printed guide to help you finish at home if needed
- A quick-reference card with tips for clean, confident sewing
- Guidance and support from an experienced teacher throughout the day
- Complimentary water, tea, coffee and cookies
- Our t-shirt sewing class in Sydney is open to everyone aged 18+
- You’ll need to know how to sew confidently and have successfully completed at least one garment following a commercial pattern. If you’re just starting out, we recommend joining our Sewing For Beginners class first, or click here to see all of our sewing classes in Sydney.
- Most people come solo to this class, so if you’re thinking about booking on your own, chances are you won’t be the only one. Our teachers are warm, friendly, and always make sure solo guests feel welcome and supported.
- We welcome all genders and identities in our inclusive space.
- Machine hire and tools are provided for our t-shirt sewing class
- Fabric is included. You’ll get to choose between white or grey fabric on the day.
- The pattern is unisex.
- Please arrive 10 minutes early to get settled in.
- We’ll take a 30-minute break for lunch – feel free to bring something or explore one of the nearby cafes.
- Closed-toe shoes are recommended for your safety.
- Our studio unfortunately isn’t wheelchair accessible. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.
Due to high demand and limited class sizes, all bookings are final and non-refundable. We’re happy to reschedule your booking as long as it meets the conditions below:
- Rescheduling with more than 7 days’ notice: free of charge
- Rescheduling with less than 7 days’ notice: $50 per person rescheduling fee
