A friendly, beginner-focused workshop that walks you through the basics of using a sewing machine to sew a cushion cover.
Our Sewing For Beginners Class will begin with you choosing your fabric from our selection. You’ll then learn how to read a simple pattern, cut your fabric, iron down a double-folded hem, and learn all about setting up the sewing machine.
Your teacher will guide you through winding the bobbin, threading the machine, sewing straight lines, and everything in between. You’ll be learning good habits from the beginning!
We run this class step-by-step, ensuring every person moves through the class together, so that no one feels left behind.
Project: Cushion cover (45 x 45cm)

- In our Sewing For Beginners Class we will provide you with a cushion cover pattern which you can take home with you after the session.
- You’ll receive a quick-reference card to keep by your machine at home.
- A digital handout will be emailed to you after class.

- Our Sewing For Beginners class is open to everyone aged 18+
- You don’t need any prior sewing experience, this is perfect for ultimate beginners or those wanting a bit of a refresh on the sewing machine.
- Everyone is welcome in our inclusive space.
- A lot of people come to this class by themselves, so if you’re thinking about booking on your own – chances are you won’t be the only one. Our teachers are warm, friendly, and always make sure solo guests feel welcome and supported.

- All materials, including machine hire, are provided in our Sewing For Beginners Class.
- Cushion insert not included but available to purchase during checkout.
- Please arrive 10 minutes early to settle in and choose your fabric.
- Closed-toe shoes are recommended for your safety.
- This class runs for 3 hours – if you’re driving, avoid 1P or 2P zones as we won’t be able to pause the class for you to move your car. Not sure where to park? Click here for our parking tips.

- Our Sewing For Beginners class has been running for over 6 years. We have helped thousands of people learn how to sew over this time, and the class has been perfected over the years to give you the best 3 hour sewing class to start your sewing journey.
Due to high demand and limited class sizes, all bookings for our Sewing For Beginners class are final and non-refundable. We’re happy to reschedule your booking as long as it meets the conditions below:
- Rescheduling with more than 7 days’ notice: free of charge
- Rescheduling with less than 7 days’ notice: $50 per person rescheduling fee
- Rescheduling with less than 24 hours’ notice: no reschedule or refund available
