3-day School Holiday Sewing Course In Sydney

Over three full days (9:30am–3:30pm each day), the teens will learn machine sewing fundamentals under the guidance of our friendly and skilled instructor in a warm and supportive environment.
By the end of the 3-day school holiday sewing course, your teen will take home several projects and a newfound sense of accomplishment in their sewing abilities.
Throughout the course, students get plenty of hands-on practice with different sewing techniques (straight stitching, backstitch, hemming, finishing raw edges, sewing curves, inserting elastic and zippers). By completing multiple projects, they progressively build skills while keeping things fresh and exciting each day. Absolutely everyone leaves with handmade items they’re proud of – and the knowledge to continue sewing beyond the class.
We end the third session with a light, non-sewing crafty activity so the group can unwind, celebrate their achievements, and have fun together.
What you'll learn
Day 1 – Tote Bag & Cushion
- Learn how to set up and thread a sewing machine
- Learn how to sew straight lines
- Design fabric using fabric dye pens
- Following a pattern to make a tote bag
- Learn how to make bag straps from scratch
- Learn how to hem
- Follow a pattern to create a simple cushion cover
Day 2 – Elastic Waist Shorts or Pants (with pockets)
- Reading and cutting a commercial sewing pattern
- Learn how to find their hip measurement
- How to cut the fabric from the pattern
- Gain experience in sewing curved seams, hemming, and sewing pockets
Day 3 – Zippered Pencil Case
- Learn how to interface
- Install a zipper
- Topstitching
- Sew boxed corners
- Line the pencil case
- Everything is included in this school holiday sewing course.
- Sewing machines, threads, and tools provided.
- A quick reference card to keep by your machine at home.
- Printed sewing patterns for each project to take home.
- Expert guidance from our experienced instructors.
- Complimentary water, tea and coffee.
- This school holiday sewing course is open to everyone aged 13+
- The teens don’t need any prior sewing experience.
- This school holiday sewing course runs for 3 consecutive days.
- The teacher leading the session has a valid working with children’s check.
- You’re welcome to drop your teen off from 9:15am, and pickup between 3:15pm – 3:30pm.
- Closed-toe shoes are recommended for safety.
- Long hair must be tied back for safety.
- BYO lunch, water bottle and snacks for morning/afternoon tea.
- Our shop is on a busy road, there’s street parking outside for 1 hour for drop-offs and pick-ups. Click here for the Google maps pin.
- Parent/guardian need to bring their teens inside, and inform the instructor if someone different will be picking them up.
- Parent/guardian need to come inside for pickup, we will not allow the teens to leave our studio alone.
- Our studio unfortunately isn’t wheelchair accessible. We’re sorry for the inconvenience
Due to high demand and limited class sizes, all bookings are final and non-refundable. We’re happy to reschedule your booking as long as it meets the conditions below:
- Rescheduling with more than 7 days’ notice: free of charge
- Rescheduling with less than 7 days’ notice: $75 per person rescheduling fee
- Rescheduling with less than 24 hours’ notice: no reschedule or refund available
This is a 3-day course, and attendance is required on all three days. Please note that we do not offer make-up sessions, refunds, credits, or rescheduling for missed days, regardless of the reason. By booking, you agree to commit to the full course schedule.
