Intensive Garment Making Course

Learn a multitude of sewing techniques by sewing a cardigan, dress and skirt

Join us at our creative studio for this four-part garment making course. This class has been curated for those wanting to dive a little deeper into garment making. We'll guide you through each step from preparing your fabric, cutting your pattern and setting up the sewing machine. You will learn how to read a pattern, install darts, sew on an overlocker, install two different types of pockets, hem, sew an elasticated waistband and more.

This small group workshop is limited to two students, giving you enough personal attention and help throughout each session. Suitable for beginners or those with little sewing knowledge.

Highlights

  • Begin the course by working on the cardigan, then advance to the dress and finally the skirt. Learn all about the patterns for each garment and what each line/symbol means.
  • Learn how to prepare your fabric for particular parts of the garment. You will be guided through how to interface, construct two different types of pockets, add binding to arm and neck holes, and fit the garment to your body shape.
  • Learn how to use the essential tools for garment making and when best to use them.

Inclusions

  • Full use of our sewing machines and tools

  • Dress: 3 meters of linen fabric for the dress, fabric roll must be a minimum of 120cm wide. Opt for a plain 1 colour fabric for this pattern. Ensure the weave is tight enough, otherwise the dress may be see-through.
